Effective training is such a critical part of your overall safety and health program that OSHA often cites employers who do not provide it. If you want a safe workplace, your employees need to know the hazards to which they are exposed and must know what protective measures they need to take against those hazards.
CHESS provides in-person safety training, at your facility, and focusing on the real-world exposures and hazards your employees face. (Can’t do it in person? We can do real-time training via videoconference.) We will help you determine what training different employees need. We’ll develop training calendars for you, so you don’t need to remember who needs what safety training when. We’ll even remind you when your training is due.
Whether it’s first time training or refresher training programs, CHESS’s training involves and engages your employees. For annual refresher training, we change our teaching approach each year, so the information remains fresh and pertinent.
These are our most popular safety training topics (but not the only ones we can provide):
- Employee Right to Know / Hazard Communication
- Respirators (including quantitative or qualitative respirator fit testing)
- Bloodborne pathogens / infectious agents
- Confined space entry
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Fire safety and fire extinguisher use
- Forklifts / Powered Industrial Trucks (classroom training and competency evaluations
- AWAIR/General safety / Find-a-hazard
- Hazardous waste handling
- Trenching and excavations
- Lockout/tagout (for affected and authorized employees)
- Electrical Safety
- Silica awareness and competent person
Safety Flash Cards / Safety Reminders and Training Guides
Because training in small doses, repeated often, is a more effective use of time and resources than trying to do all your safety training once a year, we can provide you with our safety flash cards, an easy way for supervisors to train their employees. Hand them out, use them as a toolbox talk, or post them; whatever works for you and your company. And to give new employees essential safety training before they start, we have customized training guides and new employee checklists.
Train the Trainer
We can teach you to do your own forklift evaluations and respirator fit testing. If you have the staff and the time, we can train your people to train your employees – and provide you with our support and expertise to ensure it is done right. That ends up saving you money.
CHESS offers customized seminars to meet the needs of associations and common interest groups. Past topics have covered what to expect in an OSHA inspection, hazardous materials transport and security, writing your own AWAIR safety and health program, and handling injuries/workers compensation case management. Contact us for more information about our seminars.
